My first name is Yu Bin, and my last name is Kim. I don't have a middle name. You can also call me Paul. (It's my Catholic baptismal name.)
I'm an Assistant Professor of Political Science and International Relations at Knox College in Galesburg, IL. Previously, I was a Civil War Paths Fellow at the University of York during the 2024-2025 academic year.
My research and teaching interests span both interstate and intrastate conflicts. At the interstate level, I focus on nuclear proliferation and latency. At the intrastate level, I study conflict management and United Nations peacekeeping operations. I'm also interested in how rebel groups survive during wartime, particularly through their efforts to govern civilians and conduct diplomacy.
